Wes Whittaker is an award-winning Writer, Director, and Producer with over 20 years of filmmaking experience. He studied film at New York University and the Santa Fe University of Art and Design, where he honed his craft in directing, writing, and production. His career spans shorts, documentaries, television pilots, feature screenplays, and work on major Hollywood productions. Early on, Wes wrote for a commercial house in Los Angeles before branching into narrative storytelling, where his passion for science fiction and character-driven drama found a natural home.
Wes’s TV pilot The Man From Another Dimension won Best Sci-Fi at the 2019 Chandler International Film Festival, while his script Sky Hotel earned Best Sci-Fi Fantasy TV Pilot at the 2018 Oaxaca Film Festival and was a Quarterfinalist at Shore Scripts. His diverse experience also includes technical crew work on large-scale Hollywood films such as the Academy Award–winning No Country for Old Men, which gave him firsthand experience on the mechanics of high-level cinema
Most recently in 2025, Wes completed his debut feature NEV/R, a micro-budget sci-fi thriller produced with a dedicated Nashville-based crew. The film explores themes of fatherhood, time, and fate—hallmarks of Wes’s storytelling voice, which blends cerebral science fiction with emotional depth. His approach to filmmaking is both artistic and entrepreneurial, rooted in the belief that genre stories can challenge, intrigue, and inspire audiences while remaining deeply human at their core.
In addition to his work in film, Wes holds a Master’s degree in Psychology and currently works as a licensed therapist at a correctional facility in Nashville, where he helps underserved populations develop coping skills and rebuild their lives. This dual path—filmmaker and therapist—brings emotional and psychological depth, authenticity, compassion, and a strong sense of humanity to his projects.
